THE SWORD Named MTV NEWS 'You Hear It First' Artist

Dynamic Austin, Texas-based quartet THE SWORD has been named an MTV News' "You Hear It First" artist. The band receives the distinguished accolade in the wake of their critically acclaimed debut album, "Age of Winters". "Age of Winters" was released on February 14 via New York City's Kemado Records.

Narrated by MTV News correspondent, author and former Rolling Stone editor Kurt Loder, THE SWORD's "You Hear It First" profile details an exciting new band that is fast on the rise. The feature will air on MTV, MTV2 and MTVU, the definitive college network for students at over 700 university campuses across the country. Additionally, THE SWORD "You Hear It First" feature will run on "Overdrive", MTV's broadband video service, and will be the first "You Hear It First" Podcast available for download on podcasts.mtv.com as well as on iTunes. From hip-hop to rock and all genres in between, "You Hear It First" shines the spotlight on emerging artists, giving the MTV audience a first look at hot up-and-coming stars. "You Hear It First"is a weekly three-minute MTV News program airing on MTV, MTV2, MTVU, and Overdrive (with companion content on MTVNews.com). Among the stars featured by the franchise before they became household names: ALICIA KEYS, COLDPLAY, KANYE WEST, THE KILLERS, FRANZ FERDINAND, FALL OUT BOY, and THE GAME.
